CD Fountainhead and Desserts N More Avengers registered victories in the semifinals of the GSB Unity Cup 3.0 cricket tournament, organised by the Goa GSB Sports and Charitable Trust, to book their places in the final. Both matches were played on Saturday at the Dr. Rajendra Prasad Stadium in Margao.
In the first semifinal, CD Fountainhead defeated K K Strikers by 8 runs. Batting first, Fountainhead scored 138 for 9 in 20 overs. Vikrant Prabhu (35), Aditya Prabhugaonkar (30) and Saeesh Prabhu Desai (17) contributed to the total.
Chasing a target of 139, K K Strikers were bowled out for 130 in 18.5 overs. Aditya Dalal played a blistering knock of 50 off 16 balls, but did not receive enough support from the other batters. In bowling, Pranav Biche delivered a decisive spell, claiming 3 wickets for 12 runs in 2.5 overs.
In the second semifinal, Desserts N More Avengers defeated Dempo Challengers by 21 runs. Batting first, the Avengers scored 164 for 4 in 20 overs. Captain Kaushal Hattangadi played a crucial unbeaten innings of 53, while Pankaj Naik (37) and Smit Dalvi (27) provided good support.
Chasing 165, Dempo Challengers could only reach 143 for 9 in 20 overs. Sumiran Amonkar (44) and Vibhav Pai (41) fought hard but could not guide their team to victory. With the ball, Kaushal Hattangadi also shone by taking 3 wickets for 18 runs in 4 overs.
With these results, CD Fountainhead and Desserts N More Avengers will now clash in the final under floodlights today, creating excitement among cricket fans.
For the first semifinal, Aditya Prabhugaonkar was awarded the Desserts N More Player of the Match, while Pranav Biche received the Kamat Realty Hero of the Match award from Anup Borkar and Kapil Angle.
For the second semifinal, Kaushal Hattangadi was named Desserts N More Player of the Match, while Swapnil Kakodkar received the Kamat Realty Hero of the Match award from Anant Kamat and Kapil Borkar.
