Club president Alcino D'Silva cites financial woes as the reason behind the decision to pull out of First Division League for 2016-17. However, the club will continue to participate in GFA age group tournament and inter-village tourneys

It all began when Wilred Leisure Sports Club first quit the GFA Professional League. And, what followed next was Margao Sports Club and Salcete Football Club exiting the First Division League.
Now, keeping with this trend, Curtorim Gymkhana has followed suit as they will not participate in the First Division League for the year 2016-17. The reason as cited by the club's management being financial woes which has triggered the decision to calling it quits.
“Owing to several financial crisis, we have decided not to play in the First Division League,” stated Curtorim Gym president Alcino D'Silva.
He,however, vehemently denied that the club has decided to disband the football team. "This is absolutely baseless news,” he added. D'Silva also said it is unlikely that the club will field a team in the First Division League.
“The club has not officially informed the GFA about this. We will write to the association and inform about the financial woes we are enduring at the moment,” he remarked. D'Silva, however, emphasised that the club will continue to participate in the GFA's age group competitions and also field team at the inter-village football tournaments this season. "Playing in age group or inter-village events will not affect the club despite the financial crunch," D'Silva signed off.
