Dashing Boys of Arlem defeated Sarzora Boys 4-3 via the tiebreaker to win in the Five-a-Side football tournament played at Colmorod ground, Navelim.
Dashing Boys dominated the opening session and kept the opponent on the tenterhooks and fired salvos and got the breakthrough when Rohan Prabhu slotted the ball past the rival goalkeeper.
Post resumption, Sarzora Boys put up an improved display and their efforts bore the fruits when Ronaldo Gomes bulged the net to put his team on equal terms. Both the teams went into attacking mode but their efforts eluded.
In the ensuing tiebreaker, Remy Fernandes, Abhishek Gaonkar, Valu Fernandes and Rohan Prabhu converted for Dashing Boys while Ronaldo Gomes and Steven Gomes were on target for Sarzora Boys. In all 32 teams participated.
Sushmita Dev, Rajya Sabha and TMC leader was the Chief Guest. Churchill Alemao, president of GFA and ex-MLA of Benaulim and Ghanasham Prabhu Shirodkar, councillor of MMC were at the distribution function.
Dashing Boys were richer by Rs 60,000 and a trophy while Sarzora Boys had to be content with a purse of Rs 40,000 and a trophy. Ronaldo Gomes of Sarzora Boys was adjudged as best player while Valu Fernandes of Dashing Boys was the best goalkeeper of the tournament.
