DBO Panjim and Sonics crowned champions

Don Bosco Oratory Panjim and Sonics emerged as the Boys’ and Girls’ Champions respectively, as the Third Sonics All-Goa Under-17 Basketball League, organised by Sonics Basketball Club under the aegis of Goa Basketball Association, concluded at the Youth Hostel, Miramar.

In the boys’ championship clash, Don Bosco Oratory defeated Don Bosco Fatorda 50–42 in a high-octane encounter, while the girls’ final saw Sonics prevail 28–18 over Don Bosco Fatorda to claim the title. Loyola secured third place in the boys’ division with a close 27–22 win over Sonics.

The boys’ final was an exhibition of speed, skill, and teamwork, with Don Bosco Oratory showing great composure under pressure. Their charge was led by Avner Mendonca, who delivered a stunning 25 points and was later named Finals MVP. Don Bosco Fatorda’s David Xavier fought valiantly with 13 points, keeping his team in the contest until the final minutes. In the girls’ final, Sonics showcased excellent coordination and defensive discipline, with Kim DSouza leading the way through a 12-point performance that earned her the Girls’ Division MVP title.

The league featured over 35 matches at Youth Hostel, Miramar, bringing together some of the best young basketball talent from across Goa. Richie of Loyola stood out as a consistent performer, while Sean Fernandes (Don Bosco Fatorda) and Daniel Rodrigues (Sonics) were among the crowd favorites for their all-round play.
