Don Bosco Oratory (DBO) Panjim dethroned defending champions Don Bosco Sports Academy (DBSA) Fatorda to clinch the State Junior Basketball Championships 2026 title, the selection tournament for the 76th Junior National Championship.
Played at the Don Bosco College of Engineering outdoor court in Fatorda, the event was organised by Panjim Basketeers Club in association with the Goa Basketball Association.
DBO Panjim dominated early, taking a 15-6 lead after the first quarter and extending it to 22-14 at halftime. DBSA Fatorda fought back strongly in the third quarter to level the scores at 31-31, setting up a tense finish.
However, DBO Panjim delivered in the final quarter, outscoring Fatorda 11-2 to secure a convincing 42-33 victory.
Ryan Prabhudesai starred for the champions with 15 points and was named MVP of the final, while Avner Mendonca contributed 14 points and took home the tournament MVP award. For Fatorda, Aaron Ponraj scored 12 points and Jude Fernandes added eight. The championship also served as the selection tournament for the Junior Nationals to be held in Puducherry.
