Cuncolim Union entered the semi-finals of the Cavelossim Panchayat Cup with a 4-1 tiebreaker win over Ambelim SC at the Fr Druston and Wellington ground, Cavelossim.
In a closely fought match, both sides created chances but failed to score in regulation time. Asfin Pinto’s long-range effort grazed the post, while Tushar Gaonkar missed key opportunities, including a one-on-one with Ambelim goalkeeper Ozen D’Silva. Cuncolim came closest when Warren Dias’ header struck the post late in the game.
With the match ending goalless, the tie went to penalties. Viraj, Frazer, Anish and Shankar scored for Cuncolim, while only Ryan Pinto converted for Ambelim.
Cuncolim will face St Sebastian YC in the semi-final. Cletus Pinto was named Man of the Match.
