Items worth around Rs 10 lakh seized

The Cyber Crime Police have arrested six persons for allegedly running an online Indian Premier League (IPL) betting racket at Sangolda. Items worth around Rs 10 lakh were seized during a late-night raid.
According to Cyber Crime officials, the accused, from Gujarat, Rajasthan and West Bengal, were caught red-handed while accepting cricket bets through online platforms such as “MG Lion” and “Kabook 1”. They used multiple mobile phones connected to Wi-Fi.
The accused have been identified as Gediya Raj Dilipbhai (Surat, Gujarat), Bhimraj Meena (Udaipur, Rajasthan), Nilesh Ratibhai Hirani (Surat, Gujarat), Shani Dipakbhai Chavada (Surat, Gujarat), Rokad Yash Jaysukhbhai (Amreli, Gujarat), and Prashant (Bardhaman, West Bengal).
Police said the group used SIM cards and accounts registered in different names and moved betting money through several mule accounts, amounting to identity theft and illegal gambling.
During the raid, police seized six laptops, Rs 31,000 in cash, around 50 ATM cards, mule account kits, and several mobile phones. The total value of the seized items is estimated at around Rs 10 lakh.
A case has been registered under Section 66C of the IT Act, along with Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 3 and 4 of the Goa, Daman and Diu Public Gambling Act.
In a separate case on Sunday, Verna Police busted another illegal IPL betting racket at a rented premises in Sancoale. The accused, from Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, were caught while taking bets on a live match between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals.
