OLD GOA: The deacons defeated the young diocesan priests 4-1 at the 5-a-side friendly football match on the occasion of the
43rd Pastoral Enrichment Programme at
the Pastoral Institute St Pius X, Old Goa.
The match was an intense battle with both, the priests and deacons, wanting to score a goal. The first goal of the match was scored by Deacon Jovier Barretto.
Post half time, Fr Maurice Colaco equalized for the priests. But the deacons had more to show and netted three goals through Deacons Christopher Fernandes and Jude Coelho.
Fr Maurice Colaco was adjudged man of the match.
During the lemon break, a tie-breaker was organized for novices of Holy Family of
Nazareth and Franciscan Missionaries
of Christ the King, in which the former
proved their might and won by 2-0.
Chief Guest Fr. Richard Pinheiro and Guest of Honour, Fr. Socorro Rebello gave away the trophies and other prizes.
