A four-goal blitz by Paras Deulkar and a goal each by Joliton Fernandes and Flexborn Souza helped Dempo SC Juniors outclass Benny XI to emerge winners of North District GFA Third Division League, played at Duler stadium on Saturday.

Paras Deulkar was the hero for the Blues as he scored the opening goal in just 25 seconds, recording one of the fastest goals scored in the league. Dempo winger Dattaraj and Floyd played a quick one-two before the former laid an inch-perfect ground pass from the right to the lanky striker for a simple tap-in.

With a perfect start for the North District finals, Dempo doubled the lead in the fourth minute when Joliton Fernandes headed home Ashley Rodrigues’ cross. Benny XI conceded two early goals even before they could settle in the match.

From thereon, Dempo totally dominated the proceedings with ball possession and quick passing and scored their third in the 25th minute through Paras. Benny XI’s Gautam and Chandan played well for their team but lacked the support of their team-mates.

Paras completed his hat-trick just before the break with a striking shot from the box off Ashley’s assist. Dempo led 4-0 at break.

Post resumption, Dempo resumed from where they had left from and Paras scored the team’s fifth. The dominating performance of Dempo Juniors frustrated the opposition players, who resorted to reckless tackles on the youngsters. Benny XI were reduced to 10 men in the 65th when Gautam was sent off for his harsh tackle on Aizarat in the box. Dempo SC keeper Flexborn Souza stepped over and coolly converted the spot kick to make it a tennis score of 6-0.

Dempo Juniors will next play Manora YC in the State finals.
