Fatima Boys, Dicarpale became the champions of 3rd Braz Memorial 5-a-side football tournament, edging out Zico Boys, Verna 4-3 via tie-breaker in the final at Rock Island Ground, Benaulim. The tournament was organised by ABC Benaulim.
The Dicarpale team dominated the game but were unable to score during the regulation time. They, however, had the last laugh in the tie-breaker to emerge victors.
Fatima Boys won a cash prize of Rs 40,000 and the winning trophy, while Zico Boys bagged a prize of Rs 30,000. Individual prizes: First goal of the tournament - Frailam of Champs Boys, Up-and-coming player of the tournament - Joen of Holy Cross, Betul, Best goalkeeper of the final - Avin of Fatima Boys, Best goal of the final - Agnelo Colaco of Fatima Boys, Best defender of the final - Palu of Zico Boys, Best midfielder of the final - Beabel of Zico Boys, Verna, Man of the final - Agnelo Colaco of Fatima Boys. Swindon Zion bagged the third place.
Former Fisheries Minister Avertano Furtdao was the chief guest and distributed the prizes in the presence of Colva Sarpanch and GFA executive member Anthony Leo Fernandes, Varca Sarpanch Crossly Fernandes, Xavier Pereira, Glyda Fernandes, Felicia Noronha, panchas of VP Benaulim, and Trevor Fernandes.
