Fr. Agnelo YSC Paroda were crowned champions of the Mount Carmel Trophy, organised by Our Lady of Mount Carmel Chapel, Telaulim, in association with Carmel Sports Club, after defeating St. Anthony Assolda 2-0 via the tiebreaker in the final played on Saturday at Rosary Church ground, Navelim.
Both teams were locked 0-0 at the end of regulation time, forcing the match into a penalty shootout to decide the winner. In the resultant tiebreaker, Rayan Menezes and Selwin Fernandes successfully converted their penalties to help Fr. Agnelo YSC Paroda lift the Mount Carmel Trophy.
Rev. Fr. Donato Rodrigues, Rector of Rachol Seminary, was the chief guest and presented the prizes in the presence of Fr. Gabriel Coutinho (Parish Priest of Our Lady of Rosary Church, Navelim), Fr. Ashley Coutinho, Fr. Savio Cabral, Fr. Francisco Pires, Fr. Alfred Fernandes, Fr. Bollar Barretto, Rev. Fr. George Ratos (Parish Priest of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Church, Paroda), Rev. Fr. Jose Antonio Costa (former Vicar of Rosary Church, Navelim), Rev. Fr. Agnel Dias, Rev. Fr. Ritesh Rosario, Rev. Fr. Roblan Mascarenhas, Rev. Fr. Clive Dias, Fr. Jeorge Pazi Fernandes, Rev. Fr. Movin Fernandes, and Rev. Fr. Victor Viegas.
