Salgaocar and MCC earn crucial first-innings lead points

In the Goa Premier Division League cricket tournament organised by the Goa Cricket Association, Geno Sports Club delivered an impressive performance to defeat Panjim Gymkhana by 211 runs in the second-round match played at the GCA Academy ground in Porvorim. Meanwhile, Salgaocar Cricket Club and Margao Cricket Club maintained their dominance in their respective matches on the strength of first-innings leads.
Geno Sports Club posted 309 runs in their first innings. Nihal Surlkar (90), Vikas Singh (81), and Samar Dubhashi (59) made significant contributions. In reply, Panjim Gymkhana were bowled out for 144 runs. Geno then declared their second innings at 214 runs. Panjim Gymkhana's second innings ended at 168 runs. Vikas Singh and Manish Kakode picked up four wickets each to guide Geno to a big victory.
Meanwhile, the match between Salgaocar Cricket Club and Chowgule Sports Club at the Bandodkar ground of Panjim Gymkhana in Campal ended in a draw; however, Salgaocar secured valuable points thanks to their first-innings lead. Salgaocar scored 285 runs in the first innings, with Tunish Sawkar contributing 81 runs. In reply, Chowgule were dismissed for 248 runs. In the second innings, Salgaocar declared at 280 runs, while Chowgule were 167 for 5.
The match between Dempo Cricket Club and Margao Cricket Club at the NAPEX ground in Sankhli also ended in a draw. Dempo scored 262 runs in the first innings. In response, MCC scored 304 runs, powered by Deepraj Gaonkar's 139, to take the first-innings lead. Dempo were 304 for 4 in their second innings, and the match ended in a draw.
Geno Sports Club’s victory was the highlight of the round, while Salgaocar and MCC strengthened their position by earning points through first-innings leads.
At the end of the second round, Geno Sports Club leads the table with 9 points. Salgaocar Cricket Club has 6 points. Margao Cricket Club is third with 4 points. Panjim Gymkhana remains on 3 points after the defeat. Chowgule Sports Club and Dempo Cricket Club, who failed to secure first-innings leads for the second consecutive match, have 2 points each.
