The Goa Football Development Council (GFDC) in association with Devkikrishna Sports Club Marcel distributed kit to the trainees from the GFDC- Deccan Marcel Football Development Centre at Gajantlaxmi Hall, Marcel recently. GFDC Chairman, Dr Rufino Monteiro praised the Marcel centre and thanked Deccan Fine Chemical Ltd for supporting the GFDC centre. He also urged the kids to be dedicated and attend practices regularly.
“Today there are 250 trainees registered at this centre. Four years ago when it was started there which was barely 45 kids. Besides football it has been noticed that this centre is carrying out several other community related activities. The centre head Dayanand Bhagat is doing a commendable job. The high point of our development programme is that five trainees from GFDC are currently attending the AIFF-U-15 boy’s football trial camp for the National team at Odisha,” said Dr. Rufino.
Minister for Art and Culture, Govind Gaude, who was the chief guest, expressed happiness on the way football is being developed across the GFDC centres and in Goa at large. He also promised to develop the village panchayat ground.
Also present were the Sarpanch of Tivrem- Orgaon panchayat, Sanjyot Khadapkar; Sarpanch of Betki Khandola panchayat, Dilip Naik; CSR Deccan Fine Chemical Pvt Ltd, Yogesh Arora and the President of Devkikrishna Sports Club, Ankit Narvelkar.
