Powered by half centuries from Suraj Dongre and Amar Arkas, Ghumteshwar Warriors defeated Paiguin Multipurpose by a huge margin of 111 runs to emerge champs in the ‘Patrakar’ Trophy limited overs cricket tournament organized by Sanguem-Quepem Patrakar Sanghtana.
At Curchorem Sports Complex grounds on Sunday, batting first Ghumteshwar Warriors scored 192 for 3 in their allotted 18 overs. In reply, Paiguin Multipurpose could garner just 81 runs in 14.2 overs. Amogh Desai and Sagar Gosavi did most of the damage as they took 3 wickets each.
The winners were richer by Rs 30,000 and a trophy while Paiguin Multipurpose had to settle for Rs 20,000. Sanguem MLA Subhash Faldesai was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in presence of Sanvordem Sarpanch, Sanjay Naik, Prahar Sanvordekar, Siddhesh Samant, Paul Carvalho and Suresh Naik.
Brief scores: Ghumteshwar Warriors, 192 for 3 in 18 overs (Suraj Dongre 71, Amar Arkas 51, Amogh Desai 49 runs. Abhilash Raikar 1-39, Abhijeet Patil 1-52, Saish Kamat 1-31) beat Paiguin Multipurpose, 81 all out in 14.2 overs (A Siddhant 20, Saish Kamat and Abhijeet Patil 11 runs each. Sagar Gosavi 3-16, Amogh Desai 3-34).
