Goa clinched a commanding 7-wicket victory over Uttar Pradesh in the Cooch Behar Trophy Elite cricket match on Wednesday. The four-day encounter at the GCA ground in Sanguem ended within three days, with Goa maintaining complete control throughout.
Uttar Pradesh were bundled out for 125 in 42.4 overs in their first innings. Goa replied strongly, posting 289 in 102.5 overs to secure a substantial first-innings lead of 164 runs. Uttar Pradesh, in their second innings, managed 207 in 86.1 overs, setting Goa a modest target of 44 runs. Goa achieved the target with seven wickets in hand.
At stumps on Day 2, Uttar Pradesh were 54/3 in their second innings. Captain Bhavya Goyal top-scored with 61, while Kaif Rehman (56) and Aditya Kumar Singh (unbeaten 42) helped push the total.
For Goa, off-spinner Mihir Kudalkar was the standout bowler with 3 for 40. Samarth Rane (2/27), Chigurupati Venkata (2/26), Yash Kasavankar (1/69), and Shiven Borkar (1/38) contributed effectively.
While chasing 44, Goa suffered early setbacks as Shantanu Nevagi (0) and Sarthak Bhike (0) departed cheaply. Aditya Kota scored 22 before being dismissed. Yash Kasvankar (15*) and Dishank Misquin (2*) completed the formalities to seal the win.
With this victory, Goa collected six points, taking their tally to 20 from three matches remaining unbeaten and topping Group D`. Goa will next face Bengal from December 8 to 11.
