Host Goa have their task cut out as they need a clear win against Karnataka in the 37th National Games football clash here on Wednesday, to keep their hopes alive of a semi final berth, at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Fatorda.

After a 0-1 loss against Services, the hosts find themselves in a must-win situation.

Goa head coach Derrick Pereira is no mood to write off Karnataka and consider the visiting team a formidable side. In comparison, Karnataka performance in the last year's Santosh Trophy has been encouraging.

Pereira said the team didn't look too composed in the opening match but gained form and realised their mistake. "We will plan accordingly and based on the recovery of the players. We have to learn from our mistakes and need to keep composure in the midfield and rear guard," added Pereira.

It will be interesting to see how Pereira rotates his squad for the match as he had fielded a young side.

"The boys are good, talented young players who have a positive winning attitude. If they play to their potential and ability they can beat any team,” said Derrick Pereira.

“If we play to our strengths and play our usual game, then I am confident of a win tomorrow,” he concluded.
