Goa in control at 278/7 after solid start against Chandigarh

The Cooch Behar Trophy Elite (four-day, U-19) match between Goa and Chandigarh began on Tuesday at the GCA Academy Ground in Porvorim. After winning the toss, Chandigarh opted to bowl first. Goa, batting first, reached 278 for 7 in 90 overs at the end of the opening day's play. From a strong position of 257 for 4, Goa lost three wickets in the final hour.

Openers Aditya Kota (46 runs, 8 fours) and Sarthak Bhike (71 runs, 7 fours) gave Goa a solid start with an 87-run opening partnership in 32.2 overs. Aditya was dismissed just four runs short of his half-century, after which Sarthak added 57 runs for the second wicket with Shaantanu Nevagi (92 runs, 153 balls, 14 fours). Shaantanu then shared a 43-run partnership with captain Yash Kasvankar (10).

However, Ankan Latka struck twice in the same over, dismissing Yash and Aradhya Goyal (0), reducing Goa to 187 for 4. Shaantanu, who was progressing towards a century, was bowled by Aditya and returned as the fifth wicket. Nitin Ghadi (8) and Sai Naik (23) were dismissed in successive overs, leaving Goa at 270 for 7. At stumps, the pair of Chigurupati Venkata (4*) and Mihir Kudalkar (4*) remained unbeaten.
