Goa is poised to clinch the title as they face host Kerala in the penultimate round of the 8th Senior Women’s National Football Championship for the Rajamata Jijabai Trophy at the TMK Arena Stadium in Panniyankara, Kerala, on Wednesday.
Currently sitting six points ahead of Kerala, who suffered a 1-3 defeat to Tamil Nadu yesterday, Goa aims to secure the championship without prolonging the title race. Head coach Remy Colaco stated, “Our goal is to win and secure the three points to officially claim the title. There’s no pressure on us; we will approach the Kerala match just like any other game.”
On the other hand, Kerala, currently positioned second to last with only 3 points, is eager to spoil Goa’s plans. Colaco highlighted his team's fighting spirit as crucial to their previous victories, saying, “The players demonstrated a strong desire to win, which was essential for our success. Without that determination, we wouldn’t have achieved our results.”
Despite already ensuring a place in the quarter-finals, Colaco emphasized the importance of maximizing their points in the final matches for better rankings. “We are committed to performing well in the quarter-finals and will give our best effort in every match,” he concluded.
