Flaming Oranje ward off spirited Guardian Angel challenge

Sporting Clube de Goa produced a strong second-half response to overcome Guardian Angel SC 3-2 in an entertaining Goa Professional League fixture at Duler Stadium on Thursday.
The opening exchanges were evenly matched with both sides probing for early control. Sporting threatened first through Kiernan Dias who was denied in a one-on-one situation while Guardian Angel replied with attacking intent of their own but failed to test the goalkeeper.
Guardian Angel broke the deadlock in the 35th minute after capitalising on a defensive lapse. A misjudged back pass allowed Pratamesh Gaonkar to keep the ball alive inside the area before finishing decisively to give his side the lead. Sporting pushed forward before the interval but went into the break trailing by a goal.
The momentum shifted after the restart. Ivon Costa restored parity in the 50th minute after winning possession high up the pitch and placing his finish beyond the goalkeeper. Sporting then took control of the contest as Samuel Costa finished calmly following a defence-splitting through ball to put his side ahead.
Doyal Alves extended the advantage soon after with a close-range finish as Sporting capitalised on sustained pressure. Guardian Angel remained competitive and reduced the margin when Cyril Dias connected cleanly with a half-volley from a long delivery that struck the inside of the post before going in.
Despite late pressure and bodies pushed forward by Guardian Angel Sporting remained composed defensively to close out the match and secure all three points in a hard-fought 3-2 victory.
At Nagoa Ground, Dempo Sports Club showed control and composure to claim a 3–1 win over Pax of Nagoa SC.
Dempo opened the scoring in the 18th minute through Swavel Furtado who finished clinically after being released by a well-weighted pass from Murphy Fernandes. Pax of Nagoa responded positively and drew level ten minutes later when Stephen Satarkar took advantage of a brief defensive lapse.
After the break, Dempo asserted themselves in midfield and regained the lead through Salgeo Dias who connected with a sharp half-volley following a quick free kick delivery by Arnold Oliveira.
The result was sealed late in the match when Swavel Furtado completed his brace with a powerful long-range strike after winning possession in midfield ensuring Dempo walked away with maximum points.
Meanwhile at Sirsaim, Sesa opened the scoring in the 19th minute through Aman Rajbhar, who gave his side an early advantage. Chapora responded quickly, with Soham Sheticar finding the equaliser in the 22nd minute before adding his second in the 37th minute to turn the game around and put Chapora ahead.
Sesa, however, showed resilience and composure. Titus Rosanglura restored parity in the 33rd minute, ensuring the sides went into the latter stages level and firmly in contention.
The decisive moment arrived in the 71st minute when Likson Rebello struck the winning goal, completing Sesa’s comeback and sealing all three points.
