In the Senior Women's One-Day Trophy Elite cricket tournament on Monday, Goa women faced a crushing 218-run defeat against a strong Railways side. The match was played at the Taurian World School Ground in Ranchi.
Batting first, Railways posted a massive total of 309 for 6 in 50 overs. India international Dayalan Hemalatha starred with the bat, scoring a brilliant 130 runs off 117 balls. For Goa, Metali Gawandar, Tanaya Naik, Pooja Kalel, Vidhi Bhandare and Poorva Bhaidkar picked up one wicket each.
In reply, Goa's innings, which began steadily at 45 without loss, collapsed and ended at 91 all out in 24 overs. Apart from the opening pair of Purvaja Bhaidkar (32) and Harshita Yadav (25), the rest of the batting line-up disappointed. Representing Railways, India's experienced leg-spinner Poonam Yadav dismantled Goa's batting with figures of 5 for 20, wrapping up the innings quickly. Goa's next match will be against Kerala on the 18th.
