Calangute Association stunned Sesa Football Academy with a nervy 2-1 win in the CAM Goa Professional League at Duler Stadium, Mapusa.
Richard Cardoz scored the match-winner for Calangute Association in the 83rd minute after Sesa’s Kunal Salgaonkar (44’) cancelled out Nitish Hazra’s 24th-minute goal.
While the scorers did their job, for Calangute Association it was their goalkeeper Presley Mascarenhas who put up a superb display to earn the crucial three points for his side. There were many notable saves throughout the game. However, his save in the second half stoppage time to deny Sesa FA’s Beckham Singh from getting the equaliser bagged him the player of the match.
Calangute Association moved to fourth position with eleven points from six games while Sesa FA remained in eighth position with eight points after playing the same number of games.
