Guardian Angel down Seraulim 3-0

Guardian Angel Sports Club defeated United Sports Club, Seraulim 3-0 at the 17th All Goa Guirdolim Panchayat Cup played at Chandor Church Sports Complex on Sunday.

The match started with play confined to the midfield for the first 10 minutes. Guardian Angel then started asserting themselves and scored their first goal in the 24th minute through Jaison Dias. Both teams headed for the break with Guardian Angel leading 1-0.

After change of ends, Guardian Angel continued dominating and scored through Maximo Costa in the 35th minute to make it 2-0. The final nail in the Seraulim coffin was drilled by Peregrino Lima in the 47th minute to make it 3-0 for Guardian Angel.

Goa Velha move into quarters

Goa Velha Sports Cub beat Santa Cruz Club of Cavelosim 5-4 via tiebreaker in a pre-quarter-finals match of the II Cavelossim Villagers UK Cup 2023 at Fr Druston and Wellington ground Cavelossim. In a game that was confined to the midfield with very few scoring opportunities, in the 10th minute, Flenco Rodrigues' stiff grounder was blocked by Goa Velha keeper Iyro D' Souza and it landed at the feet of Blayne Rodrigues whose hasty shot was wide off the mark. Crossing over, Goa Velha mounted repeated attacks with Arun Naik and Agnelo Correia taking shots at the Cavelossim goal, which were well-saved by Cavelossim keeper Reaston Cardozo. In the tie-breaker, Iyro, Sajeev, Krishab, Joseph and Sainath were on target for Goa Velha while Delzan, Darren, Maven and Ashwil scored for Cavelossim. The tournament was kicked off by Dixon Vaz, Sarpanch VP Cavelossim and an ardent football lover.

Ilhas Veterans shoot ahead
Ilhas Veterans beat Fatorda Veterans 9-8 via tie-breaker to move into the next round of 2nd Fatima Cup 2023 organised by Fatima Sports and Cultural Club, Baida Chinchinnim at Our Lady of Hope Church ground on Sunday.

In the 8th minute, Fatorda's Anthony Pereira's 30-yard shot crashed into the net but their joy was short-lived as Fatorda's Jack handled the ball in danger area and a penalty was awarded. Ramesh Palkar converted the spot kick to equalise. In the second half, both teams had equal chances but none scored. In the tie-breaker, Ilhas Veterans proved to be the better shooters.
