Guardian Angel Sports Club had an easy outing as they trounced Bardez Football Club by a 5-0 margin in a Goa Professional League match played at Duler stadium, here on Saturday.

After this win Guardian Angel have 19 points from 16 matches, while Bardez FC stay on 6 points. In the first 10 minutes of the match, Bardez’s Richard Cardoz thrice went close to scoring but saw two of his shots -- one from inside the penalty box and another from 25 yards -- saved by Angel keeper Ozen Silva, while the third strike from close travelled wide.

In the 13th minute, Angel should have scored but Bardez defender Luis Miranda cleared the ball in the nick of time before Sunny Fernandes could finish. The Bardez colts were lucky to escape from being penalised with a penalty kick by referee Ritesh Parsekar in the 22nd minute, when Bardez defender Stephen Martin pushed Angel’s Allwyn Vaz inside the penalty box, and in the process the player and keeper Elesh Shirvokar collided and both received medical attention.

Finally in the 34th minute, Angel tasted success when Micky Vaz connected a square pass from his team-mate Precio DSouza from outside the penalty box, 1-0. Just before the end of the first session, Angel should have doubled their lead but a stiff grounder at the far end by Sunny Fernandes was pushed for a corner with a full-stretched diving save by keeper Elesh.

On crossing over, play was restricted to midfield for the first quarter until Angel consolidated their lead in the 66th minute. A long cross by Precio at the far post saw Nicholas Rodrigues’ header being blocked by Bardez keeper Elesh and the ball was cleared by a defender which reached Clifton Dias, whose fierce 30-yard drive crashed into the far corner of the goal, 2-0.

As the match progressed, Angel carried on their domination and two cracks at the goal by Micky Vaz and Nicholas Rodrigues were blocked by keeper Elesh. However the keeper could do very little to stop Angel from hammering in three more goals in a span of six minutes. Allwyn Vaz scored his brace off an assist from Clifton, while Sunny Fernandes netted in the fourth goal with a neat placement. Just two minutes later, Alson Oliveira -- who had come from the bench -- superbly nodded the ball into the goal off a free kick by Nicholas, 5-0.
