PANAJI
Holy Spirit Institute, Margao, put up a brilliant performance to register a 5-1 win over Don Bosco High School, Panaji in the final of the U-14 Boy’s State Inter-School football tournament organized by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs (DSYA), at Santa Cruz ground, on Monday.
The lads from Margao began play on an impressive note as they dictated pace from the middle and soon broke the deadlock in the 8th minute after talented Nathan Rodrigues scored off an assist by Richard Fernandes. The Panaji outfit found it hard to get into the rhythm against their Margao counterparts, which houses the GFDC Academy trainees. In the 28th minute, Harsh Patre sent home a beautiful ball to make it 2-0 before the break.
The second half saw a more determined Don Bosco trying to get back into the game. Two minutes later, Nathan Rodrigues secured his brace after converting from a cross by Bhuvan Pawar. In the 37th minute Harsh scored a 30-yard screamer and 15 minutes later completed his hat-trick. Before the final whistle Don Bosco managed to pull one goal back after Joaquim Pereira scored off a direct free-kick.
