Chinchinim veterans win

PANAJI:Chinchinim veterans beat Ponda veterans 5-4 via the tie-breaker in the Late Mathew Braganza Veterans Cup match at Duler stadium, Mapusa on Tuesday. The teams were tied 1-1 at full time. Ponda Veterans took early lead through Derrick Pereira in the 18th minute as he chipped the ball very cleverly over the on-rushing goalkeeper. In the first half the score was 1-0. Crossing over, Chinchinim equalised in the dying minutes off John Leitao's corner kick which was taken by Raj Kapoor. In tie-breaker Jerry Fernandes, Reggie Rodrigues, Santan Rebello, Mahesh Lotlikar and Agnelo Cardozo scored for Chinchinim while for Ponda it was Sheikh Niyaz, Nelson Landez, Premnath Gadekar and Derrick Pereira converted.

Varsity badminton begins today

PANAJI: The Goa University inter-college badminton championship 2015-2016 for men and women will be held at indoor stadium, Campal from July 22 to 25, 2015, starting at 9.30 am. S S Dempo College, Altinho are the defending champions while V M Salgaocar College, Miramar took the runners-up position in the men's section last year. In the women's section, it was St Xavier's College, Mapusa and G E C, Farmagudi who were the winners and runners-up respectively.

Ganguly in BCCI working group to study Lodha verdict

Sourav Ganguly will be part of the committee will be chaired by IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla and will have BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur and treasurer Aniruddh Chaudhary as the other members.
