U-17 soccer trials for South Goa boys
PANAJI: The Goa Football Association will conduct preliminary trials for boys from South Goa to appear for AIFF trials for a possible selection into the India U-17 team for the FIFA U-17 World Cup to be held in 2017. Boys born in the year 2000 will be eligible. The trials will be conducted at the following venues: Quepem Sports Complex, on August 26 from 2.30 pm;Cansaulim Sports Complex, on August 27 from 2.30 pm. Registration process will start at 2.30 pm. All participants are requested to carry xerox copies of their birth certificates for verification.

PANAJI: Dempo Goodwill Ambassador and IM Anurag Mhamal drew with FM Aakash Thakur (2332) of Railways to move to 7.5 points at the 53rd National Challengers Chess Championship 2015 being played at Nagpur. He is occupies 16th place and will play IM Rathnakaran K (2417) of Railways on Wednesday. Geno Pharmaceuticals brand ambassador & CM Nitish Belurkar held Arjun Kalyan (2149) of Tamil Nadu to a draw to move to 6 points while the game between Anant Prabhudesai and Ameya Audi who were pitted against each other also ended in a draw and they are both on 5 points each while CM Leon Mendonca lost to Vijaykumar (1992) of Bihar to remain on 4 points at the end of the 11th Round.
Football trials for U-18 girls
PANAJI: Selection trials for U-18 girls will be held at Agasaim grounds on August 30 to select the Goa U-18 girls team for national football championships to be held in October 2015. Girls born between January 1 1998 and December 31 2002 and desirous of participating in the trials, are requested to report at the venue at 8 am on August 30, with a xerox copy of their birth certificate and full playing kit.
Loutolim down Panchwadi
MARGAO: Social Cultural Club of Loutolim prevailed over Panchwadi United Sports Club 4-2 via tie-breaker to romp into the final of All Goa Joao Francisco Pacheco memorial football tournament at Betalbatim Sports Complex, on Tuesday. In the penalty shoot-out, Mandar Naik, Vollney Vaz, Lawrence Fernandes and Zico Rodrigues were on target for Loutolim while Kaiser Godinho and Ashley Godinho scored for Panchwadi.
