Kreeda Bharati-Goa, an organisation working towards bringing people into the world of sports, recently completed 25 years of inception. To commemorate its Silver Jubilee year, Kreeda Bharati Goa organised All Goa Inter-school Girls Volleyball Tournament for U-14 Municipality Ground, Ponda. A total of seven girls teams participated in the tournament.
Arun Shet - Ex Volleyball National player, opened the tournament. In his address, he appreciated the school teachers for encouraging girl students to play volleyball.
Speaking on the occasion, Sudesh Thakur, secretary of Kreeda Bharati Goa revealed that their main aim of conducting the tournament was to bring the girl child in volleyball which is mainly dominated by the male.
The first place won by Smt. Tarabai Dalavi High School, Pale-Usgao who defeated Government High School, Menkure in a close encounter by 25-15, 21-25 and 17-15. In the final set, Government High school was leading by 15-14 but could not hold onto it to lose in three sets.
Lokmanya Tilak Vidyalay, Kavale - Ponda won the third place. In the semi finals Govt. High School, Menkure defeated RD Khalap High School, Mandrem in straight sets 21-6, 21-17. In the second semi final Smt. Tarabai Dalvi High School, Pale easily put it across Lokmanya Tilak Vidyalaya, Kavle 21-9, 21-13.
Other schools that participated in the tournament included Our Lady of Merces High School, Merces, Indirabai V Bhat Dhavalikar High School, Dhavali, RD Khalap High School, Mandrem, Swastik Vidyalay, Priol.
Aachal Amrut Parob of Government High School, Menkure won the best player trophy. Kreeda Bharati member Vrushali Kelekar compered the event. Ex APEO Pandarinath Umarye, international referee Jayawant H, Santosh Prabhudesai - Manager of Bori Urban Bank, were present on the dais. Sudesh Thakur gave the vote
of thanks.
