Teams from VVM’s Shree Damodar College of Commerce & Economics, Margao and Govt College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Khandola clinched the women’s and men’s titles respectively at the Inter-Collegiate Baseball Championship 2025-26, organised by Goa University.
The tournament was held from January 27 to February 2 at the university ground in Taleigao, with 14 men’s teams and 10 women’s teams taking part.
In a closely fought women’s final, Shree Damodar College edged St Xavier’s College, Mapusa by one run to secure the title. The Margao-based side had earlier defeated GVM’s Gopal Govind Poy Raiturcar College, Farmagudi by a similar margin in the semi-finals.
The men’s final also went down to the wire, with Khandola College beating GVM’s Gopal Govind Poy Raiturcar College by one run. In the semi-finals, Khandola had overcome Shree Damodar College by 10 runs, while GVM’s College defeated Shree Mallikarjun College by three runs.
Academic department official Ashwin Lawande and Assistant Director of Physical Education and Sports Balachandra Jadar presented medals and trophies at the prize distribution ceremony.
