Ishita Colaso will take on Pradnya Caro in the Girls U17 final, while in the Girls U19 section, Urvi Surlakar will clash with Neeza Kamat. The women’s event too promises a mouth-watering finale as Ishita set up a summit clash with Urvi at the YMCA Major Ranking Table Tennis Tournament being played at the Indoor Stadium, Campal.
Organised by YMCA Panjim in aegis with the Goa Table Tennis Association, the girls and women’s knockout rounds produced a fine mix of dominant performances and nail-biting encounters.
In the U17 Girls quarterfinals, Ishita breezed past Shreya Phadte 3-0, Samaira Soares downed Sanisha Sinha 3-0, Neeza stopped Aayushi Amonkar 3-0 and Pradnya blanked Sachi Dessai 3-0.
The semifinals saw Ishita overpower Samaira 3-0, while Pradnya came through a tense five-setter against Neeza 3-2. Meanwhile, in the U19 Girls quarters, Ishita once again impressed with a 3-0 win over Tisha Shaikh, Urvi beat Samaira 3-1, Anushri Naik edged past Sanisha in a thriller 3-2 and Neeza swept past Gianna George 3-0.
The semifinals were closely contested, with Urvi edging Ishita 3-2 and Neeza rallying to defeat Anushri 3-2, ensuring a fitting finale.
In the women’s draw, Neeza got the better of Anushri 3-1, Ishita blanked Sachi 3-0, Pradnya brushed aside Samaira 3-0, while Urvi overcame Aditi Chodankar 3-0 in the quarterfinals. The semifinals saw two riveting contests: Ishita edged Neeza 3-2 in a high-quality duel, while Urvi proved too steady for Pradnya, registering a 3-1 victory. With Ishita and Urvi setting up the women’s final, the stage is now set for three high-voltage title clashes across the girls and women’s categories.
