Chelsea are expected to complete the signing of Leicester City star N’Golo Kante, with the midfielder set to undergo a medical with the club on Friday.
The France midfielder was one of the break out stars of the Foxes incredible season, which culminated in a shock Premier League title. Playing such an instrumental role in the success has seen interest in Kante skyrocket, with Juventus, Real Madrid and Chinese club Shanghai SIPG among a number of teams keen to bring the player in.
However, it appears that such moves will be in vain, with Kante on the verge of putting pen to paper on a move to Chelsea, who have agreed a €35 million transfer fee with Leicester, according to Radio Monte Carlo. New Blues coach Antonio Conte is determined to set about rebuilding a squad that finished a hugely disappointing 10th in the Premier League last season, their lowest finish since 1996.
Kante made 37 league appearances for Leicester last season, finding the back of the net once as Claudio Ranieri’s outfit stunned the footballing world to pip Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur to the title. The 25-year-old only arrived in England in 2015 from Caen, but appears to be on the move after a solitary season. Paris-born Kante has made eight appearances for the French national team and was a key figure in their recent run to the final of Euro 2016 on home soil.
