‘Tum Mogant Podd’ (Fall in Love) is the latest Konkani audioalbum produced by Juje, a young and upcoming lyricist and singer fromSawantwadi in the Sindhudurg district of neighbouring Maharasthra. Though thealbum cover is not too impressive in design, the contents of the album arereally superb.
The album contains nine tracks in all and has music arrangedand programmed by Acacio Pereira. Saxophonists Ishant and Mercy too make theirpresence felt with soft notes. The repertoire of music is totally differentfrom what we generally hear in tiatrs and offers a fresh change.
The album begins with the romantic title track ‘Tum MogantPodd’ beautifully rendered by Juje with his signature tone. Goa’s nightingaleLorna belts out ‘Fotkiro Mog’. This song is divided in two parts, with theother part being sung by Juje as the final track of the album. ‘Pai’ is abeautiful tribute to a father from a grieving son rendered by Juje.
A trio ‘Tum Kainch Uloi Naka’ sung by Aniceto, Steffi andVerotina have some nice music score and well presented. Juje and child singerTrishul sing a duo ‘Rag’ a track which makes one wonder on the futility of‘anger’. ‘Kazar is another track with touching lyrics sung by Acacio Pereira.In ‘India’, Juje sings praises to his motherland in a poetic manner. Acacio hasalso backed it with an appropriate music score. The infusion of the tabla givesit an Indian feel. Prince Jacob renders ‘Tuka Ghoddoila Matiecho’, a solo whichhas once again very thoughtful lyrics and leaves you with a pondering mind.
Juje finishes the audio in style by rendering ‘Fottkiro Mog’(Part Two) and leaves a sweet desire to hear some more. The lyrics penned byJuje have depth and offers insight into his talent at composing. He is also anatural and gifted vocalist.
