Holders Loyola High School, Margao beat Fr Agnel Multipurpose School,Verna 2-0 to enter the finals of the 5th Baptist Fernandes (Ex Dempo, State footballer and SAG coach) Memorial Inter School football tournament organised by Goa Soccer Centre for Boys under 12 yrs.
Sohan Fernandes scored both the goals for Loyola at Panchayat ground, Chicalim.
In the quarterfinal matches of Group B, Pope John School Quepem beat Our Lady of Perpetual Succour School, Cortalim 2-0 through a brace by Leashwan, Fr Agnel’s Verna beat Vidya Vihar Cortalim 2-0 with Kifern Dias scoring both the goals, St Rocks School, Velim beat Regina Mundi School, Chicalim 1-0 through a goal by Melroy Simoes and Loyola High School beat Our Lady of Snows School, Raia in the tiebreaker.
In the Group B semifinal matches, Fr Agnel’s Verna defeated Pope John School, Quepem 2-1. Kifern Dias scored for Verna while Myron reduced the margin for Pope John. Loyola High School beat Our Lady of Snows School, Raia via the tiebreaker.
Earlier FC Goa player Laxmikant Kattimani was introduced to the players of the teams. The finals will be played on Wednesday at 4 pm between Loyola High School, Margao and Marina English High Scholl,
Verna.
Churchill Alemao, President of the Goa Football Association, will be the chief guest for the finals. A host of former footballers and organisers will be felicitated during the finals.
