Mallikarjun Gaondongrim and Arya Strikers both secured emphatic nine-wicket victories in their league matches at the 1st Chetan Manju Desai Leather Ball T-20 Cricket Tournament, held at the GCA Ground, Mashem.
In the first match, HansFighters Tarir batted first but managed only 90 runs in 16.1 overs. Chandan Dhuri top-scored with 28 off 15 balls, including three sixes and a four. Mallikarjun Gaondongrim’s bowlers dominated, with Rohit Pagi taking 3 wickets, while Chandreshkhar Gaonkar and Sairaj Gaonkar claimed two each.
Chasing the target, Mallikarjun Gaondongrim achieved 91/1 with ease. Chandreshkhar Gaonkar was named Man of the Match for his 40-run knock featuring 2 sixes and 4 fours, while Abhishek Kankonkar contributed a quick 30 off 24 balls.
In the second match, Arya Strikers chased down 111 against SKB Talpona, who had posted 110/9. Devesh Namshikar top-scored for Talpona with 22 off 21 balls, but Arya Strikers’ bowlers Kaushal Desai (3/23), Ajink Desai (2/14) and Vihal Naik (2/19) kept the opposition under control.
Arya Strikers reached the target in just 10 overs for the loss of one wicket. Sukrut Pai starred with a scintillating 73, hitting 5 sixes and 8 fours, while Akhil Tubki added 25 with 2 sixes and a four, earning Arya Strikers a commanding victory.
