Mandopa thrash Dramapur

Riding on a fine brace from Mauvin Gomes, Mandopa Sporting Club thrashed Dramapur Sports Club 6-2 in Group C of Salcete Zone GFA Third Division League at Rosary ground, Navelim on Saturday. Mandopa led 2-1 at half time.

Mandopa dominated the game right from the word go and took the lead in the 10th minute when Presley Gomes slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot. Buoyed by the lead, Mandopa upped the ante and got a second goal in the 28th minute when Rovel Gomes put the ball to the far corner of the net.

Stung by the double blows, Dramapur pressed hard for a goal and in the 30th minute Eban Crasto punted the ball to the far corner of the net. Unfazed, Mandopa went into attacking mode after change of ends. Brazil Gomes inflated the tally in the 53rd minute.Then it was the turn of Mauvin Gomes who was in the thick of action put the issue beyond doubt when he bulged the net in the 61st minute. Andy Gomes made it 5-1 in the 70th minute. Mauvin Gomes struck second time to register his brace in the 80th minute. Dramapur, however, managed to pull one back through the boots of Brisio Soares in the 85th minute.

In Group F, at St John the Baptist Ground, Dando-Benaulim, Cana Benaulim Sporting Association came from behind to defeat Dando Boys Club 2-1. Cana Benaulim were trailing 0-1 at lemon-break. Dunstan Albuquerque broke the deadlock in the 17th minute.

Post resumption, Cana-Benaulim put up an improved display and Paris Carvalho was the hero of the day as he scored a brace in the 65th and 77th minute respectively.
