Mandovi Boys clinch Shivrai Chashak in Canacona

Mandovi Boys defeated Star Boys to win the Shivrai Chashak Season-2, Canacona taluka-level tennis ball cricket tournament at Shri Mallikarjun grounds at Chaudi here. 

In the finals, Mandovi got the better of Star by 7 runs. Batting first, Mandovi Boys scored 85 runs for the loss of 5 wickets.  In reply, Star Boys could manage to score 78 runs losing 6 wickets.

Mandovi Boys have now won this tournament for the second time in a row in as many seasons.

Eight teams had participated in the three-day tournament organised by Chandan Tuskars. Former Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar was the chief guest at the finals and gave away the prizes.

The best batsman of the tournament prize was awarded to Kashinath Noru Shinde of Mandovi Boys.  Deepak Bhagat of Krishna Boys was named best bowler, while Santosh Satarkar from Star was adjudged man-of-the series. Man-of-the final award was bagged by Sandesh Velip of Mandovi Boys.  The winners were awarded Rs. 35,555 and trophy, while runners-up had to be content with Rs 25,555. Third-placed Handpickers earned  Rs. 15,555.
