In an exciting final Margao Cricket Club (MCC) defeated Salgaocar Cricket Club by 3 wickets to emerge champions of the "Goichi League" T-20 leather ball cricket tournament organized by Sanguem Cricketers.
In the finals played at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Stadium Margao under flood-lights, won the toss and elected to filed first MCC bowlers restricted Salgaocar CC to 172 for 8 in alloted 20 overs with Rahul Mehta top scored with 34 runs. For MCC Shubham Garhwal and Mohammad Huzaiffa bagged 3 wickets each. In reply MCC achieved the target with one over left and 3 wickets in hand. For MCC Vasu Tiwari scored 43 runs. For Salgacar CC Felix Alemao and Gauresh Nagvekar bagged 2 wickets each.
MCC collected Rs 10,00,000 and a gliitering trophy while Salgaocar CC had to be content with a purse of Rs 6,00,000 & trophy. PWD Minister Digamber Kamat handed over the prizes in the presence of Social Welfare Minister Subhash Faldesai and MLA Nilesh Cabral. Tushar Karmalkar President of Sanguem Cricketers welcomed while Ambarish Marathe proposed vote of thanks.
