MARGAO
The MCC Masters registered a 10-run victory over the MCC Royals in the opening match of the Margao Cricket Club's Members Cricket League (MCL 11).
Batting first, the MCC Masters put up a total of 149 for 9 in the stipulated 20 overs. In response, the MCC Royals were restricted to 139 for 8, falling short despite a spirited chase. Siddhesh Prabhu Alvencar delivered an excellent all-round performance, playing a key role in the Masters’ win. He was awarded Man of the Match by Social Worker Chetan Desai.
MCL 11 began with an energetic opening ceremony at the MCC’s Rajendra Prasad Stadium in Margao. The Chief Guest, Nitin Kunkolienker, a noted Indian corporate leader and social entrepreneur, graced the occasion.
A highlight of the ceremony was the unveiling of the MCL Trophy in the presence of MCC’s senior members, Vinod Dhamaskar and Shri Deepak Raikar. The event marked the start of an exciting new season, celebrating the participating teams and setting the tone for weeks of competitive and entertaining cricket.
In his address, Chief Guest Nitin Kunkolienker applauded MCC’s efforts, emphasizing that cricket should be seen not only as a sport but also as a platform for career growth and holistic development. MCC representative Raghuvir Kuncolienkar welcomed all attendees.
