MCC Thunder emerged champions of the MCL 11 T20 Cricket Tournament after a commanding 25-run victory over MCC Tigers in the final, played at the MCC Ground, Margao. Sudesh Rane was adjudged Man of the Match for his match-winning all-round performance.
Batting first, MCC Thunder posted an imposing total of 189/8 in their allotted 20 overs. The Thunder batting was powered by quickfire knocks from Om Fadte (35 off 20 balls), Sudhir Shet (35 off 24 balls), Ved Mahambre (36 off just 15 balls) and Iftikar Agha (30 off 16 balls), keeping the scoreboard ticking at a brisk pace.
For MCC Tigers, the wickets were shared among Mrunmay Das (1/44), Pranav Dhuri (1/31), Viraj Tar (1/25) and Balkrishna Hodarkar (1/25).
Chasing 190 for victory, MCC Tigers were bowled out for 164 in 20 overs. Viraj Tar played a spirited knock of 32 off 15 balls, while Chaitanya Kamat (36), Nikit Naik Dalal (25) and Pranav Dhuri (21* ) also contributed, but the target proved too steep.
MCC Thunder’s bowlers held their nerve, with Sudesh Rane leading the attack with an excellent spell of 4/23. He received good support from Iftikhar Agha (2/30) and Sudhir Shet (1/34), as Thunder sealed a memorable title triumph.
PWD minister Digambar Kamat was present as a chief guest, MCC member Sagun Naik and Raghuvir Kunkolienkar were also present for prize distribution ceremony.
