Peddem A was the lone Goan team to break into the knockout stage, giving the home crowd plenty to cheer about as they powered their way into the quarterfinals of the ongoing Multi-State Masters Table Tennis Team Championship, organised by Panjim Morning Stars Sports Club at the Indoor Stadium, Campal, Panaji.
The team — comprising Jesus Bonny, Shawn Soares, Anthony Mendes, Ratnadeep Shivani, and Joseph Sequeira — finished second in Group D behind group leaders Spinmoon 5 (Maharashtra), securing a well-deserved spot in the knockout stage. They now face a tough challenge in the quarterfinals against the formidable Toss Academy (Maharashtra), who topped Group A with dominant performances.
Joining Peddem A in the quarterfinals are group toppers Toss Academy (Maharashtra), MP Lions (Madhya Pradesh), Accolades (Karnataka), and Spinmoon 5 (Maharashtra), along with second-placed teams Sanmitra (Pune), Guru Academy (Maharashtra), and Karnataka Spinners.
The knockout matchups promise high-voltage action, with MP Lions taking on Sanmitra (Pune), Accolades (Karnataka) facing Guru Academy (Maharashtra), and Spinmoon 5 clashing with Karnataka Spinners. The veterans' championship has seen top-ranked players across four states competing in 39+, 49+, and 59+ categories, blending high-level table tennis with a spirit of camaraderie and sporting fellowship.
