Goa captain Aryan Narvekar led a determined fightback with an unbeaten 76 as Goa reached 227 for four in 87 overs on the opening day of their Colonel C.K. Nayudu Trophy Elite Under-23 four-day match against Baroda at the BCA Stadium ‘B’ Ground on Monday.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Goa were in trouble at 59 for three before Narvekar steadied the innings with a patient knock. He faced 207 deliveries, striking 10 fours and two sixes, carefully punishing loose deliveries while respecting the good ones.
Dishank Misquin provided valuable support with 45 off 168 balls, including four fours and two sixes. The pair added 112 runs for the fifth wicket to put Goa back on track.
Wicketkeeper Chittem Jeevankumar remained unbeaten on 45 at stumps, striking seven fours to support his captain. The unbeaten partnership has given Goa a solid platform, and the visitors will look to build on it when play resumes on Tuesday.
Henil Patel was the pick of the Baroda bowlers with three wickets, while Harshit Maurya claimed one.
