Navelim Villagers Union prevailed over Fr Agnelo YSC Paroda 6-5 via the tiebreaker to enter into the quarterfinals of the 51st Custodio Memorial Inter-Village football tournament organised by Raia Sporting Club and played at Raia Panchayat football ground on Sunday. Likson Rebello of Paroda opened the scoreline in the 44th minutes but the joy was short-lived as Clinton Niasso equalised for Navelim in the 69th minute. In the tiebreaker, Navelim Villagers Union proved to be better shooters. Navelim Villagers Union will meet the winners of Curtorim Gymkhana and Peddem Bomm Sporting Club Anjuna on July 13.
Man of the match was awarded to Navelim Clinton Niasso by Marcus Gonsalves, Konkani writer and director.
