Goa were staring at defeat after Odisha declared their second innings at 374 for six to set up a challenging target in the Colonel C K Nayudu Trophy Elite Under-23 four-day tournament at the Goa Cricket Association ground in Sanguem on Thursday.
Having conceded a first-innings lead of 54 runs, Goa suffered a disastrous start in their second innings and ended the third day at three for two in seven overs.
Resuming at 51 for one, Odisha slipped to 84 for three before Shreyansh Bharadwaj and captain Sujal Singh steadied the innings with a 119-run partnership for the fourth wicket.
Bharadwaj struck 103, while Sujal scored 69 off 75 balls, including 11 boundaries. Wicketkeeper Aashirwad Swain further strengthened Odisha’s position with an aggressive 88 off 92 balls. Syed Ahmad remained unbeaten on 32 as Odisha declared at 374 for six in 95.5 overs.
For Goa, Anuj Yadav claimed three wickets, while Deep Kasvankar took two and Vinayak Kunte one.
Goa’s reply began poorly, with Malhar Naik dismissed for a duck for the second time in the match. Shaantanu Nevagi managed just two before departing. At stumps, Sarthak Bhike was unbeaten on one, while Kunte was yet to score.
