Dempo SC dispatched Youth Club of Manora 4-0 in the Goa Pro League at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Thursday.
Suraj Hadkonkar scored a brace (28' & 46') while Pedro Gonsalves netted the third (52') before Latesh Mandrekar made it 4-0 (87').
Dempo’s Klusner Pereira missed narrowly to score in the opening minutes as he saw his shot go wide. In the seventh minute, Dempo were denied as Desmon saw his effort come off the bar. The first half was more of Dempo’s game, but they were wasteful with their efforts.
The Golden Eagles finally scored in the 28th minute when Pedro played a through pass to Suraj, who hit a powerful shot past the keeper. Crossing over, Dempo doubled the score, capitalising on a defensive error as Suraj slotted home his brace.
Pedro was then set up by Gaurav inside the box for a 3-0 lead. Dempo goalkeeper Dylan D’Silva, who was hardly tested under the bar, made a save to deny Aniston Fernandes from a freekick. The goalie also thwarted a close-range header by Jason Barbosa. In the dying minutes, Dempo scored their fourth when the Manora keeper failed to collect an attempt by Richard Cardozo and Latesh was in the right place to tap it in, 4-0.
