Parish Youth of Nuvem defeated Navelim Sporting 5-3 (1-1) via tie-breaker to emerge champs in the 40th St Joseph’s Festival soccer inter village football tournament organized by Dramapur Sports Club at Dramapur ground on Sunday. Both the teams were tied at 1-1 in the normal time.
Parish Youth Nuvem opened the scoring in the 15th minute of the match through Nevis Noronha. Navelim Sporting equalized in the 25th minute through Clinton Niasso. In the ensuing tie-breaker, Godfrey Mascarenhas, John Baretto, Stanley D’mello and Hayson Velho scored for Parish Youth Nuvem while Avlon Gomes and Sandy Colaco shot on target for Navelim Sporting Club.
The winners Parish Youth Nuvem were richer by Rs 40,000 and the winner's trophy while Navelim Sporting had to be content with Rs 30,000. Former minister Philip Neri Rodrigues was the chief guest and gave away the prizes.
