Our Lady of Rosary High School, Navelim, defeated Bethany Convent High School, Sao Jose de Areal, 3-1 in the semi-finals of the Under-14 Fr. Peter SVD Memorial Football Tournament held at the SVD Seminary Ground in Raia on Wednesday morning.
Despite the persistent rain, both teams displayed high energy and determination in front of a vibrant crowd.
Snyden Gomes opened the scoring for Rosary HS in the 8th minute, skillfully dodging past defenders before slotting the ball home. Bethany Convent’s Dylan Menezes nearly levelled the score but missed a key opportunity.
Bethany finally found their equaliser in the 28th minute through Morrison Rocha after a well-worked team move, bringing the score to 1-1.
However, Rosary HS regained the lead in the 36th minute when Clive Colaco found the net with a precise finish. Snyden Gomes returned to score again later in the second half, sealing a 3-1 victory for the Navelim side.
Ricky Fernandes of Rosary HS was named Man of the Match for his outstanding performance. The award was presented by Jacinta Dias, Sarpanch of Village Panchayat Raia. Also present on the occasion were Kevin Fernandes and Vaibhav Raut.
