Top-seeded Chandan Caro and rising talent Ruhaan Shaikh powered their way into the U15 Boys final of the 5th Naguesh and Sushila Verenkar Memorial All Goa Major Ranking Table Tennis Tournament, organized by Chandor Club under the aegis of the Goa Table Tennis Association, at Chandor Multipurpose Hall.
Chandan, a National Ranking gold medallist, overcame a stiff challenge from National ranking bronze medallist Yug Prabhu 3-1 in the semifinals, while Ruhaan continued his brilliant run with a composed 3-1 victory over Dhruva Kamat. Earlier, Chandan had eased past Bhaavan Srivastava 3-0, Yug edged out Vedant Wagle in a five-game thriller, and Ruhaan had ousted Chinmay Bakhare 3-1 in the quarterfinals.
In the U13 Boys category, Ruhaan Shaikh showcased superb touch to defeat Ishaan Colaso 3-0 in the semifinals, while Yug Prabhu displayed grit to come back and beat Vedant Wagle 3-1. Both had breezed through the quarterfinals earlier with straight-game wins ” Ruhaan against Noel Kurian and Yug against Ashank Dalvi.
