Salgaocar FC is intensifying its efforts to develop football at the grassroots level, launching a comprehensive outreach program targeting schools across Goa. The initiative, spearheaded by the club, aims to inspire and educate young students about the opportunities within professional football.
This initiative follows the successful conclusion of the 10th edition of the SFC Community Outreach Program for 2024-25, which culminated in a grand closing ceremony. The event was graced by Madam Swati Salgaocar, Vice President of Youth Development at SFC, who delivered a motivational address to the attendees.
Key figures from the club and the Goa Football Association (GFA) were also present, including Mr. Sanjiv Nagvekar (Head of SFC), Francisco Nunes (GFA), Amit Gadai (Secretary of SFC), Umer Mutawalli (Chief Coordinator of COP), Inacio Dias (Manager), Cajetan Fernandes (Head Coach), Mr. Ramesh Vhonalli (Assistant Coach), and Rajesh Shetye. Their presence underscored the program's significance and contributed to a vibrant and encouraging atmosphere.
Children and parents alike thoroughly enjoyed the day's activities, celebrating the program's success – a testament to the dedication of the entire SFC team.
A significant component of the outreach program involves educational sessions led by Umer Muttawali, an experienced coach. These sessions aim to illuminate the diverse pathways available in professional football, encompassing both playing careers and off-field roles such as coaching and sports management. Muttawali also shared valuable insights into training methodologies, the importance of discipline, and the commitment required to excel in the sport.
"In a football-loving state like Goa, it's crucial to cultivate talent at the grassroots level," Muttawali emphasized. "Our goal is to highlight the growth of football in Goa and inspire more young people to pursue their passion."
The school outreach sessions have seen enthusiastic participation, with students actively engaging in discussions and posing questions about pursuing football professionally. Muttawali also highlighted Salgaocar FC's commitment to developing football infrastructure and providing platforms for emerging players.
This outreach program is integral to Salgaocar FC's broader vision of promoting football throughout Goa. By engaging with schools, the club aims to identify and nurture young talent, providing them with the resources and training necessary to pursue football as a viable career.
