Salgaocar FC humbled Vasco SC 5-0 in the GFA Professional League at Duler Stadium, Mapusa on Saturday.
Salgacar led 3-0 at the breather as they totally dominated the game and troubled the rival defence with pace, power and deception while striking a perfect rhythm. Keita Boubacar broke the deadlock in the very third minute off a flag kick by Gilbert Olveira as the former headed home giving no chance to the rival goalkeeper. Salgaocar nearly made it 2-0 but Allen Fernandes thwarted Ivory coast striker Kamo Stephane Bayi from scoring.
Spurred by the lead, Salgaocar stepped on the gas and doubled the lead in the 15th minute when midfielder Mackroy Peixoto fed striker Liston Colaco, who made no mistake in punishing the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot. Vasco had their goalkeeper Shilton Fernandes to thank as the shot-stopper reduced the damage, restricting the score to 3-0 at the the breather, denying Gilbert Olveira, Kamo Stephane Bayi, Liston Colaco and Denil Rebello from getting their names on the scorers list.
However, the Vasco goalkeeper could not stop Salgaocar form scoring again as Liston Colaco superbly connected Gilbert’s cross from the right flank to make it 3-0. In the 33rd minute, Shilton once again came to his team's rescue as he blocked rival striker Kamo Stephane Bayi, shot from close
At the other hand, Vasco Sports Club lacked conviction in their build up and never really threatened the Salgaocar FC Goal Salgaocar had a chance to inflate their tally but Vasco Sports Club goalkeeper Shilton Fernandes came to his side rescue by blocking Kamo Stephane Bayi's shot from close.
Crossing over, Salgaocar continued to probe and nibble away at the Vasco defence and struck the fourth goal when Mackroy Peixote got hold of a pass from Gilbert and finished with a grounder past the rival keeper, 4-0.
In the entire match, Vasco failed to have one good attempt at the rival goal, with the last line of Salgaocar defence marshalled by Keita Boubacar giving very little space for Jaison Vaz and Nigerian Franck Alves Kouassi to operate upfront. In the 88th minute, Kamo Stephane Bayi scored with a stiff grounder to make it 5-0.
With this win, Salgaocar took their tally to 18 points from nine matches, while Vasco stay at nine points from nine matches.
