MARGAO: Sarzora Sports Club began their Rising Cup 2026 campaign in style, registering a convincing 4-0 victory over Navelim Sporting in the inaugural match at the Government School playground, Cuncolim.
Both teams started aggressively, but the goalkeepers kept the scores level with timely interventions. Sarzora broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute through Rowan Fernandes and went into the half-time break with a 1-0 lead.
Sarzora stepped up their attack after the restart, with Chadel Fernandes doubling their advantage. Rowan then struck his second goal of the match to make it 3-0 before Tristan Lopes completed the rout with the fourth goal.
Jerryton Dias, president of Rising Club of Sanvorcotto, formally kicked off the tournament.
Rowan Fernandes was adjudged Man of the Match and received the award from Tony Dias, vice-president of Rising Club of Sanvorcotto.
