Sporting Club Davorlim secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over CAC Cansaulim to book their place in the semifinals of the Benaulim Panchayat Cup, in a closely contested quarterfinal held at the St John the Baptist Panchayat Ground.
Davorlim started the match with intent, controlling possession early on through midfielders Ajay Raj and William Niasso, who dictated play with composure and creativity. Despite creating multiple scoring opportunities, they were repeatedly denied by Cansaulim’s sharp goalkeeper Jonito, keeping the scores level at halftime.
Cansaulim came out stronger in the second half, with Aron and Caddy stringing together smooth passing moves, but their forwards couldn’t convert in the final third.
The breakthrough arrived in the 46th minute when Prince rose above the defense to nod in a precise header that wrong-footed the Cansaulim custodian, giving Davorlim a crucial lead.
Cansaulim pushed hard for an equaliser, but Davorlim’s defence, led by a composed Sanju Trikonni, held firm under pressure to seal a narrow yet well-deserved win.
